Two Sub-Brands of MSUFCU In New Courtship With Law School

LANSING, Mich. — A new partnership between Collegiate and AlumniFi, two digital-first financial brands that are part of MSU Federal Credit Union (MSUFCU), and Cooley Law School has been announced.

According to MSUFCU, the new partnership reflects Cooley’s deep commitment to delivering a comprehensive, real-world experience that not only supports students through law school but continues to provide resources and tools for their success long after graduation.

The two MSUFCU subbrands are designed to support students and alumni in building financial wellness at every stage of their journey, the credit union said.

Addressing Financial Wellness

“At Cooley, we aim to equip our students with more than just legal knowledge — we want to give them every opportunity to succeed in life and in practice,” James McGrath, president and Dean of Cooley Law School, said in a statement. “That means addressing financial wellness as a key part of the student experience and continuing that support as they transition into their careers. Collegiate and AlumniFi give our students and graduates access to modern tools that will serve them far beyond their time on campus.”

Benefits of Partnership

According to MSUFCU, through the partnership:

  • Current Cooley students can access Collegiate — a mobile-first banking experience built for student life. “With dividend-earning savings accounts, no monthly fees, real-time spending insights, and customizable savings goals, Collegiate helps students build strong financial habits and confidence from day one,” the credit unions said.
  • Cooley Alumni are eligible to use AlumniFi, designed to “meet the demands of life after law school. AlumniFi offers a high-yield savings account, access to financial wellness tools like FinLife (designed to improve financial well-being in just a few minutes a week), rewards for paying down debt, and smart automation tools to help save and reduce student loan balances faster.”

Empowering ‘Success’

“Collegiate and AlumniFi were created to provide access to financial products, services, and education that empower success during life’s most pivotal transitions,” MSUFCU President and CEO April Clobes said in a statement. “Whether students are building their financial foundation in law school or navigating new challenges after graduation, we’re proud to support them with the tools they need to thrive.”

Cooley has more than 21,000 graduates.
