WASHINGTON–The president of the Defense Credit Union Council and the incoming president of America’s Credit Unions met here to discuss the “future of the credit union movement.”
As the CU Daily reported here, the Defense Council has positioned itself as something of an alternative to America’s CUs and is looking to change its name and serve more credit unions.
Scott Simpson, the current CEO of the California, Nevada, and Utah credit union leagues and the incoming president/CEO of America’s Credit Unions (ACU), met with Tony Hernandez, president/CEO of DCUC during a breakfast meeting.
DCUC said in a statement that both Simpson and Hernandez highlighted the “opportunities to strengthen communications, expand growth, and advance advocacy as the industry looks ahead.”
Chance to Connect
“Although I don’t officially begin my role until November, I appreciate the chance to connect with DCUC early,” Simpson said in a statement. “I know America’s Credit Unions values opportunities to work with all organizations across our industry. By building stronger collaboration and unity, we can amplify our collective voice and better serve our members.”
Added Hernandez in a statement, “I enjoyed having breakfast with Scott today. There are plenty of opportunities for DCUC and ACU to harmonize our efforts as we collaborate on behalf of our member credit unions and system partners.”
