DUNEDIN, Fla. — Achieva Credit Union has committed $1 million to St. Petersburg College, a gift the credit union said will push the college’s “Pathway to Better Centennial Campaign” past its $100 million fundraising goal as the institution prepares to celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2027.
According to the $3.1-billion Achieva Credit Union, the donation marks a milestone for the campaign and will support initiatives designed to expand student success both inside and outside the classroom. The funding will help advance programs focused on student achievement, professional development, workforce readiness, internships and career-connected learning experiences.

The credit union said the investment also reflects a relationship that dates back nearly 90 years. Achieva was founded in 1937 by a group of educators at what was then St. Petersburg Junior College, creating a longstanding connection between the two organizations.
‘Beyond Goal’
“We are honored that this gift will help propel St. Petersburg College’s Pathway to Better Centennial Campaign beyond its historic $100 million goal, ensuring the college can continue expanding opportunities for students and strengthening its impact on the workforce and communities it serves,“ Achieva President and CEO Eric Jenkins said in a statement.
Jenkins said the investment is especially meaningful because the college is where the credit union was founded nearly nine decades ago by educators who believed education and opportunity could change lives.
According to Achieva, the gift is intended to strengthen collaboration between the two organizations while supporting students, employers and the long-term economic vitality of Tampa Bay and Pinellas County.
‘A Shared History’
The credit union noted that St. Petersburg College, Florida’s first state college, offers more than 300 degree, certificate and workforce training programs and plays a key role in preparing students for careers while helping meet regional workforce needs.
“This partnership reflects a shared history and a commitment to serving our community,” Tonjua Williams said in a statement. “It signifies a belief in our students, our faculty and staff, and the important role St. Petersburg College plays in the future of our region.”
Williams said the college is honored to partner with Achieva as it continues creating pathways to better jobs, stronger communities and expanded educational opportunities.
According to Achieva, it will formally present the $1 million commitment during a July 1 event at the college’s EpiCenter in Clearwater. The event is expected to bring together college officials, Achieva executives, elected officials, donors and community partners to celebrate the investment.
