BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — AmFirst Credit Union said it has acquired a newly renovated office building in downtown Birmingham as part of an expansion of its corporate campus, a move the credit union said will support its continued growth and rising membership.
The credit union announced it has purchased the 48,000-square-foot building at 110 12th St. N., located three blocks from its headquarters at 1200 4th Ave. N.. The property was previously occupied by Pack Health.
According to AmFirst, the acquisition will allow the organization to expand its footprint while keeping operations close to its existing headquarters.
About the Expansion
“We’re thrilled to continue our investment in Birmingham, the city that has been home to our headquarters for more than 45 years,” said Kevin Morris, president and CEO of AmFirst. “As we approach our 90th anniversary this year, this expansion is about equipping our staff with the resources they need to serve our members even better, while also providing new opportunities for community partnerships and events.”
Plans for the building call for a modern extension of the credit union’s corporate offices, including collaborative work areas, flexible meeting spaces, and amenities designed to promote employee well-being and teamwork. The facility will also include break areas and wellness-focused features aimed at supporting staff as they serve members, according to the credit union.

At Capacity
AmFirst said its headquarters on Fourth Avenue North, which has housed the organization since 1980 and was expanded in 2019, has reached capacity. The additional building will help accommodate the credit union’s continued growth in downtown Birmingham.
According to AmFirst Credit Union, building at 110 12th St. N. has a long history in Birmingham’s innovation ecosystem. Beginning in the 1990s, it served as a city-supported entrepreneurial incubator and later housed the University of Alabama at Birmingham Office for the Advancement of Developing Industries, which supported startups and small businesses.
Those programs later moved to Innovation Depot in 2007. The building subsequently housed engineering and consulting firms and most recently Pack Health, which was acquired by Quest Diagnostics in 2022.
Building Features
Among the building’s notable features is a soundstage designed to support AmFirst’s expanding marketing and communications initiatives. The studio suite includes a cyclorama wall, voice booth and green room, which the credit union said will allow its team to produce content and connect
AmFirst said additional details about renovations and a timeline for occupying the building will be announced in the coming months.
