BIRMINGHAM, Ala. —AmFirst proudly hosted its Annual Charity Golf Tournament at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at Oxmoor Valley, raising $160,000 to support local nonprofit organizations.
The funds will be evenly distributed among the four 2025 Community First recipients: Better Basics, The WellHouse, Garrett’s Place, and United Way Priority Veteran.
This year’s event followed a four-person scramble format and brought AmFirst employees, members, sponsors, and community partners for a day of fun and philanthropy.
“The Community First program reflects who we are as an organization — one that believes in giving back to the communities we serve,” Jody Mattson, AmFirst director of philanthropy and community engagement said in a statement. “We’re incredibly proud of our employees and members for their continued generosity and enthusiasm in supporting these incredible organizations.”
Each year, AmFirst employees select the Community First recipients and dedicate time throughout the year volunteering, raising awareness, and organizing fundraising events. The $160,000 donation represents the culmination of employee and member efforts across multiple initiatives, including the Golf Tournament and the Annual Shooting Clays Tournament, designed to make a lasting local impact. An additional $10,000 was raised through an employee silent auction, further supporting these community efforts.
“Our mission at AmFirst goes beyond financial services; it’s about improving lives,” President and CEO Kevin Morris said in a statement. “Community First allows us to partner with organizations annually that bring hope and opportunity to many unique circumstances across our communities. During this time, our staff learns about each organization’s impact and gets the opportunity to use volunteer hours to aid further and strengthen the resources of the charities. These efforts turn this one-time event into ongoing support.”
