LOUISVILLE, Ky.–One credit union CEO will now have to deal with an unprecedented level of fame.
Erin Walter, manager/president of Brown-Forman Employees Credit Union in Louisville, Ky., has won the CU Daily’s first ever “CU in the Tourney” March Madness bracket-picking contest.

Walter correctly selected the Florida Gators to win the tournament, although he had Duke as the opponent. In its Final Four match, Duke lost to Houston, which then lost to Florida 65-63 in the last few seconds of a very exciting game.
Walter told the CU Daily he had no real system for making his picks, but di note that the way the game of college basketball has changed with rapid transfers among players has allowed the top-seeded teams to make the championship (all four teams in this year’s men’s Final Four were top seeds).
When asked how someone who is with a Kentucky-based credit union managed to not pick the Wildcats to win everything, Walter said he’s actually “110%” an Indiana Hoosiers fan. But Indiana didn’t make the tournament, which eliminated any pressure to take his favorite team in his bracket.
Walter added that he used the same picks in another bracket and won that, as well.
Bearing the Brunt
As for how he will handle all the fame (not to mention the $50 gift card) that comes with being the ultimate bracket-picker in Credit Union Land, Walter it will be only his wife (Heather Walter of Advanz Credit Union) who will “have to bear the brunt of my ever-expanding head after my bracket beat hers for the Walter household crown.”
