Azura CU Partnering With City of Topeka on Fin Lit Initiative

TOPEKA, Kan.–The City of Topeka and Azura Credit Union are launching a new financial literacy initiative later this month aimed at helping residents strengthen their personal finance skills through informal community sessions.

According to the City of Topeka, the city’s Office of Inclusive Communities and Azura Credit Union will sponsor the “Money Moves Pop-Up Initiative,” which officials described as a community-focused program designed to improve residents’ understanding of personal finances.

The initiative will feature a series of outdoor information sessions where residents can speak directly with financial experts and ask questions on topics that include:

  • Budgeting
  • Saving
  • Credit
  • Financial planning

Free & Open to Public

The sessions will be free and open to the public, according to the city. Residents are encouraged to bring lawn chairs to create what organizers described as a relaxed and accessible environment for financial education.

The first session is scheduled for May 28 from 5:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the parking lot of Azura Credit Union at 610 S.W. 10th Ave., west of downtown Topeka.

“This initiative is about meeting people where they are and providing accessible tools that can make a real difference in their daily lives,” Monique Glaudé, director of the city’s Office of Inclusive Communities, said in a statement. “Financial literacy is a critical component of long-term stability, and we’re excited to partner with Azura Credit Union to bring these resources directly into our neighborhoods.”

Katie Beach, community relationship manager for the $852-million Azura Credit Union, said the credit union is “thrilled to partner with the City of Topeka to offer information and resources to our neighbors.”
