California’s CUs Provides Clarity Around Search for New CEO, Status of Fuel Solutions

ONTARIO, Calif.–Saying it is seeking to resolve some confusion, California’s Credit Unions has provided an update on its ongoing search for its next president and CEO, as well as what it called clarity on the leadership transition timeline and its continued commitment to Fuel Solutions and the three-state alliance with Nevada and Utah.

The state associations for the three states were previously led by Scott Simpson, who exited to become president of America’s Credit Unions. California’s Credit Unions has named Lucy Ito as its interim CEO, while Utah’s Credit Unions has named Rusty Cannon as its new CEO.

“The Board of Directors reaffirms its strong support for Fuel Solutions, the nonprofit support organization established through the strategic alliance with Nevada’s Credit Unions and Utah’s Credit Unions,” California’s Credit Unions said in a statement. “Fuel Solutions plays a critical role in delivering shared services across the three-state alliance and provides a scalable platform to support future growth and collaboration.

Some ‘Confusion’

The organization said it recognizes some confusion regarding the California’s Credit Unions President and CEO role, including its relationship with Nevada’s Credit Unions and Utah’s Credit Unions, as well as how the Fuel Solutions model operates. To address these questions directly, California’s Credit Unions said it has prepared a comprehensive FAQ for its members that outlines both the leadership search process and the alliance collaboration framework.

In addition, the association said its members also have an opportunity to discuss these topics during the next Monthly CEO Call, scheduled for Dec. 18.

“The organization welcomes member engagement and looks forward to an open and constructive conversation,” California’s Credit Unions said. “The organization’s leadership team remains fully committed to delivering the advocacy, education, and support that credit union members rely on every day.”
