Chartway CU Names Russ Cronin as SVP-Financial Strategy

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va.–Chartway Credit Union has named Russ Cronin as its new senior vice president of financial strategy & accounting. Chartway said Cronin is an experienced finance executive with an impressive track record in strategic planning, regulatory leadership, and aligning financial operations with long-term strategy for both credit unions and commercial banks.

“As a senior leader on the finance team, Cronin will play a critical role in shaping and executing the credit union’s financial strategy. He will oversee finance and accounting functions, providing strategic direction that ensures financial stability, operational efficiency, compliance, and long-term growth,” the credit union said.

Prior to joining Chartway, Cronin held leadership roles at several financial institutions, including State Street Bank, National City Bank, Capital One, and Crestar (now Truist). Most recently, he led the team at Adirondack Regional Federal Credit Union to increase its community impact by launching small business lending initiatives, doubling the credit union’s assets and significantly growing its net income.

Cronin earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Virginia Commonwealth University.
