Chemcel FCU Names New President and CEO to Succeed Michael Engel

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Chemcel Federal Credit Union has named Justin Eddleton as its next president and CEO, succeeding Michael Engel, who has led the credit union since 2007.

Eddleton brings more than 17 years of financial services experience to the position, including leadership roles in lending, operations, technology, marketing and branch management, according to Chemcel Federal Credit Union.

He most recently served as chief lending officer at Soarion Credit Union, where he oversaw strategy and performance across the credit union’s mortgage, consumer and commercial lending portfolios. Chemcel said Eddleton worked to expand access to affordable lending products while maintaining an emphasis on risk management and regulatory compliance.

Earlier in his career, Eddleton held several leadership positions at Credit Human, with responsibilities that included lending sales and marketing, lending operations, technology solutions and branch management, according to Chemcel.

“I am honored to have the opportunity to serve as president and CEO of Chemcel Federal Credit Union,” Eddleton said. “I look forward to working alongside the board, employees, members, and community partners to build on the credit union’s strong foundation, deliver meaningful value to our members, and pursue responsible, sustainable growth.”

Two Decades of Service

Engel has served as Chemcel’s president and CEO for nearly two decades. During his tenure, the credit union grew from $50 million to more than $180 million in assets, according to Chemcel.

The credit union’s board said it plans to work with Engel and Eddleton to ensure a smooth leadership transition and expressed its appreciation to Engel for his years of service.
