‘Congratu-lei-tions’: 20 Scholarships Awarded by HFSFCU

HILO, Hawaii–HFS Federal Credit Union has awarded 20 scholarships.

For the past 14 years, the credit union has awarded over $295,000 in scholarships to more than 110 student members to help with their college expenses. This year, HFS FCU increased the number of scholarship awards from 15 to 20. Ten scholarships were awarded 20 graduating Big Island high school seniors and 10 scholarships to current college students attending a 2-year, four-year, or graduate program. Each recipient was awarded $3,000 for a total of $60,000 in scholarships for the 2025-2026 academic year.

Recipients include a two-year student who is majoring in Kinesiology, nine four-year students heading off to various colleges for the first time and 10 current college students completing degrees in aeronautical science, “The credit union is proud to support its student members who will one day be leaders in the community and positive contributors in the workforce,” said Jesica Carriaga, HFS Federal Credit Union Scholarship Committee chairperson.
