JACKSONVILLE, Fla.–Credit unions in three different states are sharing how CU employees have recently donated thousands of hours of their time to give back to their communities.
In the Sunshine State, VyStar Credit Union is reporting that through its “Good is everywhere” initiative employees provided more than 8,000 hours of volunteerism to their communities.

The initiative also gave its members free entry to attractions such as museums, science centers, music and sporting events to thank them for their dedication, according to the credit union.
In its statement, VyStar said its employees took part in a variety of community efforts such as home renovations for individuals with developmental challenges at Pine Castle in Jacksonville, a pop-up food pantry for students at Kennesaw State University in Atlanta and others.
In total, employees logged 8,252 volunteer hours and participated in 216 events across Florida and Georgia.
Neighborhood ‘Uplift’
“Our employees don’t just volunteer, they uplift the very neighborhoods our members call home,” Patricia McElroy, SVP and president of VyStar Foundation, said in the release. “Through our ‘Good is everywhere’ celebration, we empower every team member to take action that strengthens our communities. Because when we come together to serve the communities where our members reside, we create lasting change where it matters most.”
Ten CUs Give Back in Oklahoma
In the Sooner State, ten credit unions together for “CU in the Community,” a day of service rooted in the cooperative principle of people helping people.
“This initiative united Credit Unions to strengthen the community they proudly serve,” the CUs said in a statement.
In partnership with Rebuilding Together OKC, a nonprofit dedicated to revitalizing homes for low-income seniors, credit union volunteers worked on critical home repairs for a senior veteran.
“As credit unions, we’ve seen the power of collaboration through CU in the Park, our annual free concert in the park that brings us together in a way that’s rare in the financial services industry,” Jennifer Curtis, VP of marketing at WEOKIE FCU, said in a statement. “CU in the Community is another opportunity to join forces, extend that same cooperative spirit, and make a lasting impact that goes far beyond financial services— strengthening the communities we proudly serve.”
This year, 42 volunteers gave back their time to the community, contributing 121 hours to make a meaningful difference through this effort, the organization said.

Demonstrating CARE in Wisconsin
In the Badger State, 365 WESTconsin Credit Union employees lived their core values of Collaborative, Accountable, Respectful, and Excellence (CARE) as part of the first annual Community CARE Day, during which 38 community organizations received a helping hand across western Wisconsin resulting in over 1,000 volunteer hours contributed.
WESTconsin Credit Union said it is committed to serving its communities through volunteerism, education, and donations.
