Dow CU Expands to Statewide FOM; Drops NSF Fees

MIDLAND, Mich.–Dow Credit Union is reporting it has opened its field of membership to all Michigan residents, while also eliminating non-sufficient funds (NSF) fees, which it called “another step toward delivering a more transparent, affordable, member-first experience.”

“Financial well-being should be accessible to everyone—and this move ensures more people can experience the exceptional value Dow Credit Union provides,” CEO Michael Goad said in a statement. “Our focus is on delivering value—not fees. We offer great rates, low costs, and a true sense of ownership that traditional banks can’t match.”

Out-of-Staters Can Also Join

Under the new statewide charter, the $2.38-billion Dow Credit Union said it updated its bylaws so that any Michigan resident can join Dow Credit Union. For individuals residing outside Michigan, anyone can become a member by donating $10 to Dow Credit Union’s Multipliers for Good fund, which supports grants for nonprofit initiatives. All applicants can join by depositing $5 into a Prime Savings Account.

In announcing the elimination of NSF fees and by expanding its FOM, Dow CU said it “continues to lead by example in creating a more inclusive and equitable financial future.”
