Family Trust FCU Joins in New Financial Literacy Initiative

GREENVILLE, S.C.–Family Trust Federal Credit Union said it is partnering with the Phillis Wheatley Community Center and the Riley Institute at Furman University to launch a financial education initiative aimed at improving financial literacy in the Greenville community.

The program, called Financial Foundations, will offer free classes covering topics such as budgeting, saving, banking basics, credit management and debt reduction, according to the credit union. Sessions will be held at the Phillis Wheatley Community Center and are designed to help adults build the knowledge and confidence needed to make informed financial decisions.

Family Trust said it will provide instructors and training materials for the program as part of its broader commitment to community outreach and financial education.

“Financial education is one of the most powerful tools we can provide to help individuals build long-term stability and opportunity,” said Ryan Harvey, president and CEO of Family Trust. “We are proud to partner with the Phillis Wheatley Community Center and the Riley Institute to make these resources more accessible and to support individuals and families working toward their financial goals.”

Developed by University

The initiative was developed through Furman University’s Riley Institute Diversity Leaders Initiative and is intended to provide accessible financial education to residents of the Nicholtown community and the broader Greenville area, Family Trust said.

The Phillis Wheatley Community Center serves as a hub for education, support and personal development in Greenville, with a mission focused on helping individuals in underserved communities achieve greater self-sufficiency, according to the organizations.
