NEW BRITAIN, Conn. — Former Sound Federal Credit Union President and CEO Edward Fox has asked a Connecticut state court judge to dismiss portions of two counterclaims filed by the credit union that seek the return of approximately $80,000, the latest development in a wide-ranging legal battle stemming from his termination and compensation arrangements.

According to court filings reported by Law360, Fox argued Monday that Sound Federal Credit Union cannot pursue claims seeking repayment of roughly $80,000 in business-expense reimbursements because the credit union has failed to adequately support allegations that the expenditures were improper. Fox asked the court to dismiss portions of the credit union’s counterclaims related to the disputed funds.
Additional Litigation
The dispute is one of several legal battles between Fox and the Connecticut-based credit union following his departure. Fox originally sued Sound Federal Credit Union, alleging breach of contract, unpaid compensation, defamation and other claims tied to his termination. The litigation has also involved disputes over a split-dollar agreement that provided executive benefits and has generated both state and federal court proceedings.
Sound Federal Credit Union has responded with counterclaims, including allegations that Fox improperly received reimbursements and other compensation. The credit union is seeking recovery of approximately $80,000 that it contends should be returned. Fox’s latest motion challenges the legal sufficiency of those claims and argues they should not proceed.
Awaiting Decision
No ruling had been issued on Fox’s motion as of Monday. A decision by the court could narrow the scope of the counterclaims while the broader litigation over Fox’s termination, compensation and benefits continues.
