Google Cloud Launches Specialized Version of Gemini Enterprise AI Platform for Financial Institutions

SUNNYVALE, Calif. — Google Cloud has launched a specialized version of its Gemini Enterprise artificial intelligence platform for financial services, offering financial institutions AI agents and more than 50 specialized skills designed for research, compliance, credit analysis and other financial workflows.

Gemini Enterprise for Financial Services is initially available in preview for capital markets and corporate banking, according to Google. CME Group and Deutsche Bank are among the financial institutions already using the technology, with Deutsche Bank serving as a design partner for its Financial Research agent.

The financial services offering, along with a separate version for the legal industry, represents the first in a planned series of specialized industry products built on Google’s Gemini Enterprise platform. The products combine industry-specific AI agents and skills with data connectors and other tools, according to Google.

50 Skills, 13 Data Connectors

Google said Gemini Enterprise for Financial Services combines its AI models with financial data, internal systems and governance controls designed to address regulatory and data residency requirements.

The platform includes a Google-managed Financial Research agent, 50 purpose-built skills and 13 connectors linking to market data, news, regulatory filings and internal databases. Google said the system is designed to provide research results with source citations and data provenance.

“Financial professionals are looking for an AI platform that doesn’t lock them into any one model or ecosystem, connects to the IT systems they use every day, and is highly secure and compliant,” Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian said in a statement.

Primary Components

Among the platform’s primary components are:

  • Financial Research agent: Automates research and provides confidence scores, methodologies, data snapshots and source citations designed to make results easier to verify and audit.
  • Financial services skills: Supports tasks including credit risk assessments, portfolio monitoring, market news analysis and financial investigations.
  • Data connectors: Integrates with providers including Dun & Bradstreet, FactSet, LSEG, Moody’s, MSCI, PitchBook, S&P Global and SEC Edgar.
  • Third-party agents: Provides access to partner tools for functions including business verification, Know Your Customer compliance, lending document analysis and financial research.
  • Governance tools: Gives IT and risk teams centralized controls, including risk management, audit logging and governance capabilities.

Targeting Banking Workflows

Google said financial institutions can use the technology to automate or accelerate a range of complex operations. Those include improving information available to relationship managers and financial advisers and conducting more extensive KYC research.

The company said the technology can also analyze bond portfolio risk, identify potential credit-market opportunities and shorten the process of developing presentations for bond issuances from days to minutes.

For KYC work, Google said the system can ingest information from PDFs, spreadsheets and SEC filings to map corporate structures, assess risks and help identify ultimate beneficial owners.

Deutsche Bank Plans Deployment

Deutsche Bank plans to deploy the Financial Research agent within its Corporate Bank division to identify customer needs, match customers with products, streamline acquisition processes and identify market developments, according to Google.

The bank is also exploring applications for financial crime risk management, forecasting, scenario analysis and preparation of client presentations in its Private Bank and Investment Bank divisions.

“As a design partner, Deutsche Bank has helped shape this capability in view of the realities of a highly regulated industry — from data protection and governance to the workflows our teams use every day,” Marie-Jeanne Deverdun, Deutsche Bank’s chief technology, data and innovation officer, said in a statement.

Deverdun said the bank sees potential for the technology to reduce manual research, improve the consistency and auditability of results and give employees more time for customer interactions.

Works With Microsoft 365, Google Workspace

Google said Gemini Enterprise for Financial Services is designed to operate within both Google Workspace and Microsoft 365.

Financial professionals can generate and analyze AI-powered information and export results into Docs, Sheets and Slides as well as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Google said it also has partnered with consulting and technology companies to help financial institutions configure and deploy the platform, including Accenture, Capgemini, Cognizant, Deloitte, Infosys, KPMG, NTT Data and PwC.

Google said Gemini Enterprise is already being used by other financial institutions, including BNY, Citi Wealth, Lloyds Banking Group and Macquarie Bank.
