NAPERVILLE, Ill.–The Illinois Credit Union League (ICUL) has announced the opening of its inaugural Credit Unions in Action (CUIA) data collection initiative, and it is inviting credit unions across the state to share their 2025 community impact stories and service efforts.
According to the league, the CUIA initiative gathers information on financial education, charitable giving, volunteerism, and community engagement to demonstrate the collective impact of Illinois credit unions. The data will support advocacy efforts, legislative outreach, and public awareness campaigns that highlight the industry’s commitment to strengthening local communities, the league said.
‘Powerful Stories’
“Every credit union has powerful stories to tell about the lives they change and the communities they serve,” Libby Calderone, president and CEO of the ICUL, said in a statement. “When we bring those stories together, we create a compelling narrative that shows policymakers and the public the true value of the credit union movement. Credit Unions in Action allows us to elevate those voices and amplify our shared impact.”
To support a successful reporting cycle, the league said it is encouraging each participating credit union to designate a project lead to coordinate its submission and serve as the primary liaison with the league team. Submissions can be drafted and saved before final submission, it said.

“Credit Unions in Action is how we bring our impact to life,” Melissa Vidito, director of marketing and communications, said in a statement. “By sharing their stories, credit unions show the difference they make in every community while strengthening our collective voice and building pride across our system.”
