Loudoun Credit Union Launches ‘Local Currency’ Program to Feature Local Stories

LEESBURG, Va.–Loudoun Credit Union has launched “Local Currency,” a program on Loudoun Now Voice that it said, “explores the people, stories, and everyday life moments behind financial decisions in Loudoun County.”

According to the $60.1-million Loudoun CU, the show is hosted by Brian Tinsman from POUNCE Solutions and “takes listeners beyond transactions to highlight the real human needs, from unexpected medical bills, a first car, a child’s dental work, a home repair, a long-planned vacation, or a loan that gets a family through a tough season.”

The 5,300-member LCU said in the near future the conversations will expand to include local business stories as the credit union prepares to roll out commercial banking services in 2026.

‘Planting Roots’

In the debut episode, CEO Michael Falvey chats with Tinsman inside the shell of the future flagship location, and discusses his roots in New England and why the move to historic downtown Leesburg represents more than a change of address.

“We’ve been serving Loudoun for nearly 50 years, and now we’re planting roots right where commerce and community have always met,” Falvey said in a statement. “This is home for us. What we earn goes back into the community, from education and nonprofits to the organizations that keep Loudoun strong. And when a member needs help, it’s our own staff, people who live here, who are staying up late to fix it.”

What’s AheadThe credit union said future episodes will feature long-time members, staff, board leaders, small business owners, nonprofit partners, and residents whose stories reflect Loudoun Credit Union’s mission as a member-owned, community-rooted financial cooperative
