MADISON, Wis. — The National Credit Union Foundation has released its 2025 Impact Report, highlighting what it called a year of renewed focus on financial well-being initiatives, leadership development and community support efforts across the credit union movement.
According to the National Credit Union Foundation, the report reflects what it described as a defining year for the organization, marked by a renewed mission and vision and a sharpened focus on helping credit unions advance financial well-being in practical and meaningful ways.

“Credit unions are already leading this work every day—walking alongside their members through financial challenges and opportunities alike,” Lauren Culp, executive director of the National Credit Union Foundation, said in a statement. “Our role at the Foundation is to help strengthen that journey by equipping, connecting, and supporting the movement as it continues improving lives and communities.”
The Foundation said the report details several key areas of impact during 2025, including leadership development, financial education initiatives, disaster relief efforts and industry collaboration.
Highlights Cited
Among the highlights cited by the Foundation in the report:
- Developing leaders: Nearly 250 credit union professionals completed the Credit Union Development Education (DE) Program, expanding what the Foundation described as a growing network of purpose-driven leaders throughout the industry.
- Fueling innovation: Foundation grant-supported initiatives reached more than 2,200 young people transitioning out of foster care, helping provide access to financial education, savings opportunities and resources designed to support long-term financial stability.
- Responding in times of need: Through the CUAid disaster relief program, more than $379,000 was distributed to support nearly 250 credit union employees and volunteers affected by natural disasters.
- Convening the movement: More than 1,100 credit union leaders, partners and advocates attended the Foundation Gala and Herb Wegner Memorial Awards, which the Foundation said helped celebrate leadership achievements and strengthen connections across the credit union movement.
‘Continued Evolution’
According to the Foundation, the report also outlines the organization’s continued evolution toward helping credit unions operationalize financial well-being through leadership development programs, collaboration, shared learning opportunities and emerging initiatives intended to support the future of the credit union movement.
“Improving financial well-being is not the work of any one organization alone,” Culp said in a statement. “It requires partnership, shared purpose, and a movement committed to helping people move forward. We’re proud to do this work with and through credit unions.”
