NCUA Lists Remainder of Year’s Board Meetings as ‘Tentative’

ALEXANDRIA, Va.–The National Credit Union Administration is now listing its scheduled board meetings for the remainder of 2025 as “tentative.
With the exception of August, the NCUA board typically holds its meeting during the third week of the month on Thursdays, almost always at its headquarters on Duke St. in Alexandria, Va.

But following the firing by the Trump administration if two of the three members of the agency board—Todd Harper and Tanya Otsuka—only one board member remains, Chairman Kyle Harper, the Republican appointee.

NCUA cancelled its April board meeting. That April meeting was to include discussion of NCUA’s plan for reducing its workforce as part of the Trump administration-mandated reductions, which to date have involved “voluntary separation agreements.” Should an insufficient number of NCUA’s staff exit voluntarily, it is believed the agency will then begin firing people.

Job Cuts at Agency

While not confirmed, sources have indicated NCUA is looking to eliminate approximately 20% of its approximately 1,200 employees.

As the CU Daily has reported, the agency issued a statement saying Hauptman is empowered to take action as legally he would represent a quorum of one.

Although listed as tentative, the next scheduled NCUA board meeting is May 22.
