NCUA Says It’s Unlikely It Will Publish Board Meeting Schedule for 2026

ALEXANDRIA, Va.–As 2026 approaches, NCUA said it is unlikely to publish dates for meetings of the agency’s board for next year.

The meetings have traditionally been held on a Thursday during the third week of every month, with the exception of August of each year. However, it has cancelled a number of meetings so far in 2025 after two-thirds of the board members were fired by President Trump.

As the CU Daily reported here, the agency’s website indicated that both the Oct. 23 and Nov. 20 meetings have been “withdrawn,” meaning they were not/will not be held.

The NCUA website currently lists the December meeting as “tentative.”

‘False Expectation’

“Moving forward next year, we are likely to no longer publish board meeting dates on the website,” and NCUA spokesperson said in a statement to The CU Daily. “That creates a false expectation that a meeting will occur when it’s meant to be a courtesy scheduling heads up.”

The board currently has one member—Chairman Kyle Hauptman—following the April firing of Democrats Todd Harper and Tanya Otsuka. Harper and Otsuka have file suit seeking to be reinstated.

The NCUA spokesperson said the new policy related to announcing meetings is unrelated to the litigation.
