New Daily Cast Episode Features AARP Program CUs Can Use to Educate Older Members

WASHINGTON–With online scams growing on an almost exponential basis, with members—who are often older members—and credit unions themselves being caught in the traps, especially older members—often caught in the traps, the CU Daily’s newest Daily Cast With Walt Laskos features information on a resource many CUs and members are not taking advantage of.

The new Daily Cast features interviews with a representative of AARP’s Senior Planet–a charitable program that teaches free technology classes and provides digital support for adults aged 60 and older with a goal of teaching tech skills, preventing online scams, and reducing loneliness by connecting peers—and a representative of South Central Power, the largest electric cooperative in state of Ohio, which is expanding broadband fiber internet in rural, and underserved parts of state and which partnered with Senior Planet to provide education and awareness.

‘Why Should a Credit Union be Interested?’

“Why should I as a credit union be interested in this?” asks Laskos in introducing the new Daily Cast. “Well, I suspect that your credit union undoubtedly has many older adult members, many of whom probably struggle with today’s technology.”

Details on the partnership between the two organizations and what Senior Planet might be able to do for your credit union can be found here.
