DULUTH, Minn. — Northern Communities Credit Union has partnered with Dream Publishing to introduce a co-branded financial education book aimed at helping young people in northern Minnesota build long-term financial skills, according to the credit union.
The book, Start Young and Build Freedom, will be incorporated into the credit union’s reality fair programming and back-to-school initiatives, providing students with a take-home resource designed to extend financial literacy lessons beyond in-person events, Northern Communities Credit Union said.
According to the $126.8-million credit union, the illustrated guide is designed to help teens identify goals, explore entrepreneurship and develop a foundation for financial well-being. The book is written by Simon Komlos and features art direction by Chad W. Beckerman. It aligns with national personal finance education standards established by the Jump$tart Coalition for Personal Financial Literacy.

Meeting Students ‘Where They Are’
“Our team works hard every day to make financial confidence accessible to every young person in our community,” said Maria Corradi Haines, vice president of member service at Northern Communities Credit Union, in a statement. “Partnering with Dream Publishing gives us a resource that meets students where they are, and we are excited to see the impact it has across our programs.”
The co-branded edition will feature the credit union’s logo, a message from its leadership and customized pages connecting students to its programs and services, the credit union said.
“Credit unions like NCCYou are exactly who we built this for,” Komlos said in a statement. “They show up for their communities in ways that go far beyond financial products, and we are proud to support that work with a resource young people will actually want to engage with.”
Northern Communities Credit Union said it will also work with Dream Publishing on a student impact survey and case study to measure the reach and effectiveness of the initiative.
