CHICAGO–NuMark Credit Union (NuMark) partnered up with CityPoint Community Church (CityPoint), to put on the Money Summit Workshop, hosted at the CityPoint Community Church in Bronzeville.
“Partnering with CityPoint to host the Money Summit Workshop is part of the NuMark’s efforts in providing affordable opportunities to provide adults and children with financial education and advice, in a welcoming and judgement-free environment,” the credit union said.
Adults stayed upstairs in the sanctuary, where they heard keynote talks presented by Jenny LaFlore from Mama Fresh, as well as Pastor Demetrius and his wife, Karla Davis. They also participated in workshops covering topics from rebuilding credit and purchasing their first home, some of which were led by NuMark experts.
While the adults were upstairs, kids were in the elementary and middle school rooms downstairs with additional eager NuMark employees to learn about the difference between wants and needs, and how to budget for the real world, the credit union added.

“I am proud to say that The Money Summit was a resounding success. Designed to empower the Bronzeville community and our congregation, the summit provided valuable tools and insights to help achieve financial freedom and stability,” said Pastor Davis in a statement. “Our dynamic speakers captivated the audience, and the engagement from participants was inspiring. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive – attendees appreciated the variety of topics covered and found the information both informative and actionable. This summit has truly made a lasting impact, equipping individuals with the knowledge to take control of their financial future.”
Located in the South Side of Chicago, CityPoint is a gathering place for many within the community, whether it’s just for worship or community groups and education. NuMark CU said CityPoint’s dedication to supporting the community aligns perfectly with its belief in the credit union ideology of “people helping people,” which made the CityPoint Church the perfect place for the Money Summit.
“At NuMark Credit Union, partnerships are made with great consideration and regard. An alignment must be felt, and a common vision must be shared,” Whitney Jones, director of Sales & Service at NuMark, said in a statement. “With that in mind, the decision to partner with CityPoint Community Church was made with great confidence and ease. Their core belief centered around supporting the community, and NuMark’s mission to enrich the financial lives of our members, led to a remarkably successful financial workshop.”
