Pelican CU Unveils New Branch as Part of New Identity

BATON ROUGE, La.–Pelican Credit Union celebrated its newly remodeled Postal Branch in this city’s downtown, which is the first to showcase its fully refreshed brand identity.

Pelican CU, which was chartered in 1931 as Postal Credit Union of Baton Rouge, was the first CU to serve this city.

“It’s important for us to keep pieces of who we are and our identity as we move forward,” CEO Jeff Conrad said in a statement. “We never want to become an institution so large that we forget our roots.”

A commemorative photo collage of the Postal Credit Union is on display in the building’s main lobby, along with an American flag that was gifted to the credit union in 2003 by Hewitt Townsend, a former board president, the credit union said.

New Logo & Brand Featured

The Postal Branch is the very first Pelican location to fully debut the organization’s new logo and brand colors.

“Our previous logo showed a bird perched, but being the movers and shakers that we are, we recognize a pelican in flight is much more representative of our personality and where we are going,” said Leigh Porta, chief growth officer, said in a statement.

The credit union said the new facility also includes updated technology, including ITMs, and also offers extended branch hours.
