SAN FRANCISCO — Perplexity AI has introduced a new personal finance capability that allows users to link their financial accounts and analyze spending, investments and debt in one place, according to a company blog post.
The company said the new feature, powered through an integration with Plaid, enables users to securely connect bank accounts, credit cards, loans and brokerage accounts to create what it described as a comprehensive financial profile.

Perplexity said more than 75% of its users already visit the platform monthly to ask financial questions, and the new tool is designed to expand those capabilities by allowing users to query their own financial data directly.
The ‘Computer’
Once accounts are linked, the system—referred to as “Computer”—can analyze spending patterns, calculate net worth and build customized trackers and dashboards, according to Perplexity. Unlike traditional budgeting apps, users can ask freeform questions about their finances rather than relying on preset tools, according to Perplexity.
The company said the integration is intended to consolidate financial management, noting that consumers typically use multiple apps to track budgeting and investments. Through Plaid’s network, which connects to more than 12,000 financial institutions, users can view a combined picture of their financial activity.
According to Perplexity, the system provides read-only access to account data and does not store user financial information on its own servers.
What’s in the Toolbox
The platform also allows users to generate tools such as:
- Net worth dashboards that update automatically
- Budget trackers based on transaction data
- Debt repayment plans using balances and interest rates
- Retirement projections tied to savings and investment accounts
- Cash flow forecasts that identify potential shortfalls
Perplexity said the tool draws on real-time financial data from sources including FactSet, Coinbase, Nasdaq, S&P Globaland filings with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission to provide analysis.
Where It’s Available
The Plaid integration is currently available on desktop for users in the United States and Canada, with mobile access and broader geographic availability planned. Advanced features are limited to paid subscribers, while standard users can access basic portfolio connections and queries, the company said.
