PORTLAND, Ore.–Rivermark Community Credit Union said it is closing its downtown Portland branch and ATM. The announcement comes at the same time another credit union has announced the expansion of its downtown presence.

“After thoughtful and careful consideration, we have made the decision to permanently close our downtown branch and ATM effective June 30, 2026,” the $3.2-billion Rivermark said in a statement. “Decisions like this are never easy, especially when they affect long standing routines. As a member‑owned credit union, we continually review how and where our members are choosing to bank with us. Over time, in‑branch usage at this location has declined, and after weighing many factors, we determined that closing this branch allows us to continue serving our full membership in the strongest, most responsible way possible both today and in the future.
“Members of our Downtown team will be reassigned to other locations and will be happy to assist you in their new roles,” Rivermark CU stated, pointing members toward two other branches it said are nearest, as well as to its digital banking solution.
The Oregon City-based Rivermark has approximately 176,000 members.
OnPoint Community CU Expands
The decision comes approximately a year after OnPoint Community CU said it would expand with a new 17,000-squar-foot branch on Washington St. in downtown Portland, according to KOIN.
OnPoint Community CU “cited data that showed many business owners believed “the downtown core turned the corner from 2023 to 2024,” and would continue to see improvements in foot traffic and public safety,” KOIN reported.
