According to KAKE, investigators say the man walked up to the teller, showed a fake passport ID, and walked out with $19,000 in cash from someone’s account. Just a short time later, he returned, walked up to a different teller, showed another fake passport and left with another $9,000 cash from a different member’s account, the report said.

“You would think with a large amount of money that would have triggered an extra amount of approval,” long-time member Jack Pierce told KAKE.

Police say once the credit union realized the man was a fraud, it called the two members and 911.

Local Banks Also Hit

“Not only is he stealing from victims, but he’s stealing from local banks by producing fictitious documents and money that doesn’t belong to him,” said Crime Stoppers Coordinator Kris Gupilan told KAKE.

Investigators are hoping someone will recognize the man and call Crime Stoppers.

KAKE News said Meritrust Credit Union had not commented at the time of its report.
