Secured Advantage CU Seeking Candidates to be Next CEO. Here’s How to Apply

SIMPSONVILLE, S.C.–The $57-million Secured Advantage Credit Union in South Carolina is seeking candidates to be its new president and CEO.

“Secured Advantage Federal Credit Union (Secured Advantage FCU) is at an important point in its history,” said DDJ Myers, an ALM First Company, which is handling the search. “The board of directors is seeking a resident/Chief Executive Officer to strengthen the organization, build on its community-focused foundation, and position the credit union for long-term success.

The Leader Being Sought

The Board is looking for a collaborative, approachable leader who builds trust through transparency, accountability, and strong communication. Success will come from developing people, empowering the team, and creating alignment around shared goals,” DDJ Myers stated. “The successful candidate will understand how to balance financial strength with member service while building strong relationships with employees, members, business partners, and the community.”

Leadership Competencies

According to DDJ Myers, the leadership competencies being sought include:

  • Strategic Builder – Develops and executes a clear vision that strengthens the organization and positions the credit union for sustainable growth.
  • Financial Steward – Improves financial performance, manages risk, and ensures sound operational and regulatory practices.
  • Organizational Leader – Builds strong teams, develops talent, and creates a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Community Leader – Serves as a visible ambassador for the credit union and builds relationships throughout the Greenville and Simpsonville communities. Experience working with underserved markets or a CDFI is a plus.
  • Governance Partner – Works effectively with the Board of Directors through open communication, sound governance, and a clear understanding of board and management responsibilities.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Minimum five years of progressive senior leadership experience within a credit union or financial institution.
  • Credit union leadership experience required; experience in community-based institutions under $100 million in assets preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in improving financial performance, leading organizational growth, and executing strategic initiatives.
  • Experience working effectively with a Board of Directors and a strong understanding of governance best practices.
  • Strong operational, financial, and business development experience. 
  • Demonstrated commitment to community engagement and relationship building, with the ability to serve as a visible ambassador for the credit union.
  • Experience serving underserved markets or working with a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

The Opportunity

Compensation: $120,000–$150,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
