LAFAYETTE, La.–Luminate’s Young Professionals Network (YPN) presented Sierra Shaw with Neighbors Federal Credit Union the 2025 Young Professional of the Year Award during its annual conference.
The event united more than 60 young professionals. The award recognizes an individual under 40 years of age who has been exceptionally engaged and supportive of the Louisiana credit union movement over the past year.
Sierra’s career reflects a strong dedication to professional development, innovation, and service, making her an emerging leader within the credit union movement. Currently serving as Project Manager at Neighbors FCU, Sierra has advanced through several roles in a short period of time, beginning as a Virtual Teller before moving into the Contact Center and ultimately into project management.
Her ability to lead cross-functional teams, including senior and executive leaders, has contributed to projects that support strategic organizational initiatives and operational success.

Committed to continuous learning and growth, Sierra actively participates in professional development opportunities through both Neighbors FCU and Luminate. She earned an LSU Project Management Certificate in 2024 and is currently preparing to sit for the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification exam. Her passion for leadership development has also been recognized through her participation in the 2025 NFCU Emerging Leader Program and the 2024 NFCU Sync Mentorship Program.
Sierra’s involvement extends beyond her professional responsibilities. She actively engages with the broader credit union movement through networking events, educational opportunities, and industry organizations, including the America’s Credit Unions Innovation & Technology Council. She also seeks to better understand the legislative and political issues impacting credit unions and the important role young professionals play in advancing the movement’s mission.
In addition to her industry involvement, Sierra demonstrates a strong commitment to community service. She volunteers with organizations including local churches, St. Vincent de Paul, and the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank. She also serves on the Baton Rouge Middle High School Foundation Board, further reflecting her dedication to making a positive impact both professionally and personally.
Her leadership potential and dedication to the credit union movement have earned her additional recognition as a 2025 Luminate Conference Crasher and a 2026 GAC Crasher.
Sierra’s passion for learning, commitment to service, and enthusiasm for strengthening the credit union industry make her a deserving recipient of the 2025 Young Professional of the Year Award, the organization said.
