Texas Trust Foundation Makes $50K Gift to University

SAN ANGELO and ARLINGTON, Texas–Texas Trust Credit Union’s foundation is making a $50,000 gift to Angelo State University to fund nursing scholarships.

The Texas Trust Credit Union Scholarship will award $10,000 each year for the next five years to an undergraduate nursing student in the Archer College of Health and Human Services at Angelo State. The first scholarship will be issued this fall and can be used for tuition, fees, and books in the recipient’s junior and senior years.

“We are honored to be receiving this scholarship from the Texas Trust Gives Foundation,” said Jennifer Braziel, associate professor and department chair for the Angelo State University Department of Nursing. “In a time when financial strain is being felt by most of us, this gift will have a positive impact toward lessening the educational financial burden for our students and supporting attainment of their nursing career goals.”

The nursing scholarship is a first for Texas Trust. Until now, its scholarships have supported students pursing degrees in education, engineering, fine arts, and select trade programs.

“This scholarship will help Angelo State attract more nursing students, which is important because they are desperately needed to overcome the nursing shortage,” said Sean Choate, Angelo State alumnus and Advisory Board member of Texas Trust Credit Union.  “Through our scholarships, we want to help students graduate with less debt and be ready to start their careers and build a brighter financial future.”
