SHREVEPORT, La. — A thief or group of thieves used chains and a stolen pickup truck in an unsuccessful attempt to rip an ATM from a branch of Campus FCU here, the latest in a series of attempted ATM thefts targeting credit unions that The CU Daily has reported.
According to KTBS, citing Shreveport police, the suspects attached chains to the ATM and attempted to use the pickup to pull the machine away from the credit union. They failed to remove the ATM but caused damage before fleeing the scene.

Stolen Pickup Truck
The suspects abandoned the pickup truck, which police determined had previously been reported stolen. The vehicle was towed as investigators worked to collect evidence from both the truck and the damaged ATM, KTBS reported.
“They were not successful today. However, they did cause damage to the ATM,” Shreveport police Cpl. Chris Bordelon told KTBS.
No money was taken from the machine.
Police said investigators plan to examine possible DNA evidence as well as surveillance video that could help identify those responsible.
Bordelon said authorities believe the suspects may already be known to law enforcement and are investigating whether they could be connected to similar crimes.
The ATM was removed from the credit union for processing and to prevent additional damage, according to KTBS.
