TAMPA, Fla. — GTE Financial Credit Union has launched a sweepstakes offering four Florida residents $2,500 cruise prizes for establishing qualifying direct deposits or opening certain business accounts.
The “Dock Your Dollars” sweepstakes runs from Aug. 14 through Oct. 14 and is intended to encourage consumers and business owners to evaluate where and how they manage their money, according to GTE Financial.
Eligible participants can receive an automatic entry by establishing a new recurring direct deposit totaling at least $500 per month into an eligible GTE consumer account. Participants can also qualify by opening a new GTE Business Relationship Plus account with a minimum opening deposit of $500.
Four winners will be selected in a random drawing after the sweepstakes closes. Each winner will receive $2,500 in cruise vouchers, for a total prize value of $10,000, the $3.1-billion GTE Financial said.

Bringing ‘Excitement’
“Where you choose to manage your money is an important financial decision, whether you’re depositing your paycheck or building a business,” Scott Works, vice president of marketing at GTE Financial, said in a statement. “With Dock Your Dollars, we wanted to bring some excitement to that decision while encouraging people to think about the financial relationships, tools and resources that can help them move toward their goals.”
Existing GTE members may also be eligible for the sweepstakes if they establish a new qualifying direct deposit or open a qualifying Business Relationship Plus checking account during the promotional period, according to the credit union.
Highlighting Direct Deposit
GTE Financial said the promotion is also intended to highlight the role direct deposit can play in helping consumers establish consistent financial habits. Automating deposits can make it easier to manage monthly expenses, regularly contribute to savings and work toward longer-term financial goals, the credit union said.
For entrepreneurs and small-business owners, GTE said the promotion provides an opportunity to consider whether their current financial institution and account services are meeting the changing needs of their businesses.
“Financial wellness isn’t only about how much money you make. It’s also about creating systems that help you manage that money with purpose,” Dona Svehla, executive vice president, chief operating officer and chief lending officer, said in a statement. “Sometimes a relatively simple change can be the starting point for building stronger financial habits.”
The sweepstakes is open to eligible Florida residents, GTE Financial said.
