MARION, Ind.–Via Credit Union has filed a notice of data breach with the Attorney General of Maine after discovering that an unauthorized party accessed its computer system and acquired certain files.
In its notice, Via Credit Union stated the incident resulted in an unauthorized party being able to access members’ sensitive information, including names. Social Security numbers, addresses, dates of birth, and financial account information, JD Supra reported.
The report added that the $577-million Via Credit Union has sent data breach notification letters to all individuals whose information was affected by the recent data security incident.

Law Firm Seeks Plaintiffs
Oklahoma City-based Murphy Law Firm said it is investigating claims on behalf of all individuals whose personal and confidential information was compromised in the data breach and said it is seeking plaintiffs to join a class action lawsuit.
JD Supra said the Maine filing indicates Via Credit Union recently detected suspicious activity within its computer network notified law enforcement, secured its network, and then began working with outside cybersecurity experts to investigate the incident.
Confirmation Made
“Through this investigation, Via CU confirmed that an unauthorized party was able to access parts of its IT network between January 18, 2025 and January 20, 2025,” the JD Supra report states. “Via CU also learned that, during this period, the unauthorized party acquired certain information stored in the compromised files. After learning that sensitive consumer data was accessible to an unauthorized party, Via Credit Union reviewed the compromised files to determine what information was leaked and which consumers were affected.”.
