Webster First CU Comes to the Rescue of City’s July 4 Fireworks

WEBSTER, Mass. — Webster First Credit Union has stepped in as the premier sponsor of the Town of Webster’s annual Independence Day fireworks celebration, helping preserve a longstanding community tradition that was at risk because of budget constraints.

According to Webster First Credit Union, the fireworks display is scheduled for July 2 at Memorial Beach and is being hosted by the Webster-Dudley Charles R. Guenter Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 654.

The town traditionally organizes the annual event for residents, but officials faced the possibility of canceling the celebration this year because of funding limitations, Webster First said. In response, the town partnered with the VFW post to seek sponsorship support for the event.

Webster First said it provided funding to help close the budget gap, allowing the fireworks display to proceed. The credit union said the sponsorship reflects its commitment to the community where it was founded and its support for local civic traditions.

‘Deeply Moved’

“Having strong personal connections with local organizations and Webster Town Administration, I am deeply moved by our shared relationship and respect for the community where our credit union began,” Webster Branch Manager Halina Jachimczyk said in a statement provided by the credit union. “As an immigrant, I especially value the opportunities this country offers. None of this would be possible without the sacrifices and dedication of our veterans, whose service makes our freedom possible.”

Webster First said the effort was made possible through collaboration among the Town of Webster, the VFW Post 654 and the credit union.

Event organizers are encouraging local residents and families to attend the July 2 celebration at Memorial Beach, which they said will provide a safe, family-friendly way for the community to celebrate the Independence Day holiday.
