Not a Netflix-and-Chill Moment for FIs: ‘How to Rob a Bank’ Movie to Premiere in September

HOLLYWOOD, Calif.–Credit unions may want to prepare for a potential wave of attempted robberies later this year. In early September, Amazon MGM Studios plans to release a new film “How to Rob a Bank,” an action movie directed by David Leitch—known for his fast-paced films—is about a crew of bank robbers who use social media to publicize their acts.

The film, like many in the genre, tends to glorify bank robbers, and the trailer for the film seems to suggest that’s the case. The movie features a number of well-known actors, including Nicholas Hoult, Zoë Kravitz, Anna Sawai, Rhenzy Feliz, Christian Slater, Pete Davidson, and John C. Reilly.

There trailer also indicates there is a sub-theme about corruption in the larger banking industry. One review noted that Leitch’s previous films have shown that the director isn’t afraid to combine biting social commentary with explosions and firepower.
