RADCLIFF, Ky. — Abound Credit Union is sponsoring a free, nine-week financial education program for Hardin County residents as part of a partnership with the Omicron Nu Lambda Education Foundation and the Swope Family of Dealerships.
The $2.8 billion credit union said the Dave Ramsey Financial Peace program will be offered each Saturday from Sept. 26 through Nov. 21, with sessions beginning at 10 a.m. Eastern time at the Swope Toyota Community Room in Elizabethtown.
Participation is open at no cost to all Hardin County residents, according to Abound.
Under the partnership, Abound is covering the cost of the program for the Omicron Nu Lambda Education Foundation, which will provide a presenter. Swope is providing space at its Toyota dealership for the weekly sessions.
‘Benefits All Kentuckians’
“At Abound, we believe that expanding access to financial education benefits all Kentuckians,” said Jake Darabos, CPA, chief finance and administration officer for Abound. “We’re proud to once again sponsor the Omicron Nu Lambda Education Foundation to help others achieve more and improve their financial health.”
Abound said the program is part of its broader effort to expand access to financial education in Kentucky through community partnerships and other initiatives.
The Focus of Program
The Financial Peace program focuses on personal financial management, including budgeting, eliminating debt, saving and other steps intended to help participants improve their financial position.
Carl Millsap, chair of the Omicron Nu Lambda Education Foundation, said Abound’s financial support allows the organization to make the program available to more people.
“Abound’s ongoing support allows us to provide more individuals with a proven plan for financial success so they can take control of their money and change their lives,” Millsap said.
The foundation is affiliated with the Omicron Nu Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. and serves communities in Elizabethtown, Radcliff and the Fort Knox area.
More Than 130,000 Members
Abound, which has been operating for more than 75 years, has 19 locations, more than $2.8 billion in assets and more than 130,000 military and civilian members.
The credit union said it also offers free online financial education resources for Kentuckians of all ages.
The Financial Peace sessions will be held at the Swope Toyota Community Room, 1085 N. Dixie Highway in Elizabethtown. Advance registration is available to Hardin County residents.
