RADCLIFF, Ky.–Abound Credit Union was recently recognized for the breadth and depth of its organization-wide volunteerism on Fort Knox, winning the 2026 Wayne Woodward Philosophy in Action Award for building financial confidence from childhood to retirement.

This recognition showcases the impact of their everyday efforts.”
Nearly 200 of Abound’s 400 Team Members are trained to participate in military-focused financial literacy and lifecycle empowerment initiatives on Fort Knox Army Installation. This includes a full-range of programs designed for all ages, such as:
- DODEA School System Integration equipping elementary through high school students with foundational tools for saving, entrepreneurship, and career path budgeting
- Active Duty & Civil Service Workshops in partnership with B.O.S.S. (Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers) and Workforce Development
- Personalized 1-to-1 Financial Counseling to help families navigate the unique stresses of the military lifestyle
- Retirement & Investment Services to provide critical transition support for veterans and retirees
Abound does more than simply educate the military community, it serves as a true partner participating in over 25 major Fort Knox events annually and as a financial bedrock when the unexpected happens. During the 2025 government shutdown, Abound partnered with the Garrison Commander and KRDA to provide immediate relief. In total, the credit union helped more than 40 military families impacted by the pay lapse, disbursing more than $150,000 in emergency loans and offering skip-a-payment options to reduce stress.
Through Abound’s long-standing partnership with USA Cares, the credit union has contributed more than $700,000 to assist military families facing crises related to housing, utilities, transportation, and food insecurity. In 2025, the credit union also entered year seven of a 10-year, $1.5 million commitment supporting military and civilian wellness through community health initiatives near Fort Knox. The partnership reflects Abound’s belief that financial, physical, and mental wellness are interconnected and essential to thriving communities.
