THOMASVILLE, Ga. — Addition Financial Credit Union has contributed $30,000 to establish a scholarship fund at Southern Regional Technical College as part of a new partnership that also will bring financial education to students, faculty and staff.
The Lake Mary, Fla.-based credit union said the agreement is its first college partnership in Georgia. The scholarship fund is intended to help students who need financial assistance to continue their education and pursue career goals.
Christina Reneau, the college’s executive director of institutional advancement, said the unrestricted fund will help students who are balancing school with work and family responsibilities.
“Gifts like this one don’t just fund an education, they fund a future,” Reneau said.

Workshops Planned
Addition Financial also plans to offer workshops, seminars and other financial education programs for the college community. Richard Barbari, the credit union’s director of community development, said the programs are intended to provide practical resources and help participants make informed financial decisions.
“We want to make person-to-person connections with the SRTC community,” Barbari said.
Addition Financial said the partnership builds on its existing relationship with Thomas County Schools, allowing it to support local students as they move from school into further education and the workforce.
