Afena FCU Honors Three Individuals at Annual Meeting

MARION, Ind.–Afena Federal Credit Union continues to empower the hardworking residents of Marion, Indiana, helping them overcome challenges while building lasting legacies. 

At its 2026 Annual Meeting, the organization honored three exceptional individuals whose contributions exemplify the true spirit of community service and the credit union philosophy of people helping people. 

Recognized for going beyond their professional roles to make a meaningful impact were John McKenzie, named Distinguished Champion; Pastor Lori Minor, honored as Community Impact Champion; and James “Jim” Morgan, recipient of the People Helping People Champion award. Each was celebrated for their unwavering commitment to serving others and strengthening the community.

John McKenzie, CEO of the Indiana Credit Union League, has devoted his career to advancing initiatives that strengthen Indiana’s credit union movement, with a particular emphasis on legislative and regulatory advocacy. Through his leadership and steadfast commitment, credit unions statewide have expanded membership access and enhanced their ability to serve Hoosiers. His work has supported institutions of all sizes and has helped shape forward-looking regulations that will continue to drive growth and deliver lasting value to both the industry and the communities it serves.

Pastor Lori Minor of Become Ministers  has made a transformative impact by developing a financial literacy teaching series tailored specifically for single mothers. Her program not only equips participants with essential financial knowledge but also provides encouragement and practical guidance during periods of uncertainty. As a result of her efforts, more than half of the women who have completed the program are making measurable progress toward financial wellness creating meaningful change not only in their own lives but also for future generations and the broader community.

James “Jim” Morgan Repo Agent at Afena Federal Credit Union is known for consistently going beyond his role at Afena Federal Credit Union to foster genuine connections with members, colleagues, and the community. His actions ranging from offering personal support during times of loss to helping individuals rebuild confidence and navigate difficult life circumstances reflect a deep commitment to compassion and service. Mr. Morgan exemplifies Afena’s core values of fairness, accountability, and a sincere dedication to the well-being of others.
