DALLAS — ALM First has acquired Financial Management Services Inc. (FMSI), an Overland Park, Kansas-based consulting and advisory firm, ALM First announced. Financial terms were not disclosed.
FMSI advises community banks, credit unions, savings and loans, and nondepository financial institutions on net interest margins, interest rate risk and capital protection. Its employees will join ALM First, allowing clients to continue working with their existing advisers while gaining access to the Dallas firm’s broader services, according to the announcement.

‘A Natural Fit’
“This acquisition is a natural fit,” ALM First CEO Emily Hollis said in a statement. She said both firms view asset liability management as a strategic tool for financial institutions.
Chuck Crouch, an FMSI partner, said the firm’s clients would continue working with the same people after the acquisition.
Founded in 1995, ALM First provides asset liability management, investment management, balance sheet strategy and other advisory services. Its investment adviser, ALM First Financial Advisors, reported more than $80 billion in investments under management as of Aug. 31 and provides fee-based services to more than 450 financial institutions, according to the company.
