HICKSVILLE, Ohio–Over the objections of the state’s bankers, the former Hicksville Bank in Ohio will open as a branch of Indiana-based InterraCredit Union.
“The approvals are in, the votes have been cast, and the countdown is officially over!” Integra said in a Facebook post. “We’re excited to share that the acquisition of The Hicksville Bank has been approved, and Interra members have officially voted to expand our field of membership into Defiance, Paulding, Van Wert, and Williams counties in Ohio!

“This isn’t just another milestone. It’s the start of an exciting new chapter,” the credit union continued. “On Tuesday, we’ll officially welcome our new teammates and customers from The Hicksville Bank to the Interra family and begin serving even more communities across northern Indiana and northwest Ohio.”
Bankers Fought Acquisition
As the CU Daily reported earlier, the Ohio Bankers League had said in May when the acquisition was announced that it planned to use all available tools, including regulatory engagement, legislative action, “and, if necessary, litigation,” to stop the planned acquisition of the bank..
The Ohio Division of Financial Institutions later confirmed the bank has the authority to proceed with the proposed asset sale, according to the Ohio Credit Union League, which said the determination supports its position that credit unions are legally permitted to purchase bank assets in the state.
