AmFirst CU’s Annual Charity Golf Tourney Raises $190K

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—AmFirst continued its commitment to community through its 34th Annual Charity Golf Tournament, which raised $190,000 in support of four local nonprofit organizations as part of the credit union’s annual Community First campaign.

This year’s tournament held special significance as AmFirst celebrates its 90th anniversary, recognizing nine decades of serving its members and putting them first.

Proceeds from the tournament will be evenly distributed among four nonprofit partners: Forge Breast Cancer Survivor Center, Jones Valley Teaching Farm, Libby’s Friends, and Covenant Rescue Group. Each organization plays a vital role in addressing important needs throughout the communities AmFirst serves.

The Golf Tournament serves as one of the credit union’s signature fundraising initiatives, bringing the community together around a shared commitment to making a difference.

“Our Community First campaign is a reflection of the generosity and dedication of our employees and community partners,” said Jody Mattson, AmFirst Director of Philanthropy and Community Engagement. “Seeing everyone come together to support these four incredible organizations is a reminder of what we can achieve when we work toward a common goal. We’re honored to play a part in helping them continue the important work they do in our communities.”

AmFirst’s Charity Golf Tournament is one of several fundraising initiatives the credit union hosts throughout the year to support its non-profit partners. Earlier this year, the credit union hosted its annual Charity Sporting Clays Tournament at Selwood Farm, welcoming more than 100 participants. AmFirst employees also contributed to the campaign through a silent auction and raffle held during the credit union’s annual employee engagement event in February, raising more than $15,000 for the selected nonprofits.

“As we celebrate AmFirst’s 90th anniversary, we’re reminded that our success has always been closely tied to the communities we serve,” said Kevin Morris, President and CEO of AmFirst. “Community First is more than a campaign. It’s a commitment our employees embrace year after year, and the relationships we’ve built with our nonprofit partners are a testament to that dedication.”
