Bed, Bath and…Credit Union. Alliant CU Partners With Co. to Provide New Financial Services Platform

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Alliant Credit Union has entered into a five-year partnership with Neighborhood Intelligence, the company formerly known as Bed Bath & Beyond Inc., to launch a financial services platform that will offer checking and savings accounts, mortgages, home equity products and other services to customers across the company’s retail brands.

The new operation, called Beyond Credit Union and powered by Alliant, is expected to launch in the first quarter of 2027, according to Neighborhood Intelligence.

The $20-billion Alliant will be the exclusive financial services provider behind Beyond Credit Union and will remain responsible for underwriting, credit decisions, interest rates, fees and financial institution operations, according to the organizations. Neighborhood Intelligence will provide the brand, marketing, technology and integration with its businesses.

The companies plan to embed Beyond Credit Union across Neighborhood Intelligence’s portfolio, which includes Bed Bath & Beyond, The Container Store, Overstock, buybuy BABY and Kirkland’s.

The planned offerings include checking and savings accounts, credit cards, personal loans, mortgages, home equity products, rewards integration and other financial services.

From Bed Bath & Beyond to Neighborhood Intelligence

Neighborhood Intelligence is the new corporate identity of Bed Bath & Beyond Inc., which officially changed its name Aug. 14 and moved its stock listing from the New York Stock Exchange to Nasdaq under the ticker NXH.

The company describes itself as a data and technology company organized around three interconnected businesses: omni-channel retail, home services and home ownership.

Its strategy is to use its retail brands along with data, technology, financial services and other capabilities to serve consumers throughout the home-ownership lifecycle.

The company’s retail portfolio includes Bed Bath & Beyond, Overstock, buybuy BABY, Kirkland’s, The Container Store, Elfa and Closet Works. Neighborhood Intelligence says it uses data and technology to connect those businesses with home services and financial products in what it calls its “Everything Home” ecosystem.

The company has said the Neighborhood Intelligence operation serves as an intelligence layer connecting the businesses, using proprietary data, artificial intelligence and other technology to improve decision-making and develop products and services for consumers.

Alliant to Provide Financial Infrastructure

Beyond Credit Union will become the financial services component of that broader strategy.

Neighborhood Intelligence said the platform is intended to connect consumers with financial products, education, tools and resources throughout the home-ownership process, including preparing to purchase a home, financing it and maintaining, improving and protecting its value.

“Every dollar matters for Americans who aspire to own a home or currently own one,” said Marcus Lemonis, executive chairman and CEO of Neighborhood Intelligence.

“We need to develop financial products that provide both flexibility and value, while giving consumers the education, tools and resources to make better decisions,” Lemonis said. “Beyond Credit Union is about helping people save smarter, borrow smarter and manage the cost of their home more intelligently.”

Alliant is a national digital credit union with nearly 1 million members and approximately $20 billion in assets.

Programs Coming Before 2027 Launch

Neighborhood Intelligence and Alliant plan to begin introducing programs before Beyond Credit Union’s formal launch.

The companies said those initiatives will focus on helping current and prospective homeowners reduce costs and make financial decisions related to home ownership.

The agreement has an initial five-year term.

‘Meaningful Economic Participation’

Neighborhood Intelligence will receive what the company described as “meaningful economic participation” in the program, including revenue generated as Beyond Credit Union grows.

Neighborhood Intelligence President Amy Sullivan said the structure allows the company to expand into financial services without building a financial institution itself.

“By connecting relevant financial products with tens of millions of customers across our brands, we believe we can unlock meaningful lifetime value and create a new, scalable revenue stream across our ecosystem,” Sullivan said.

Neighborhood Intelligence characterized the arrangement as an “asset-light” model requiring minimal investment by the company.

The partnership represents an expansion of Neighborhood Intelligence’s effort to connect retail, home services and financing under a single corporate strategy while leaving the regulated financial services operations with Alliant.
