ITHACA, N.Y.– Beginnings Credit Union said longtime Board Member Amy Wood Gonzalez has been awarded the distinguished title of Director Emeritus in recognition of her exceptional service, leadership, and enduring impact on the organization.
The Director Emeritus designation is a distinguished honor voted on by the Board of Directors to recognize individuals whose leadership, service, and lasting contributions have helped shape the future of Beginnings Credit Union.

Wood Gonzalez has served on the Board of Directors since 2010, playing a transformative role during a period of significant growth and evolution for the credit union. Over the course of her tenure, she has been a trusted advisor, strategic thinker, and collaborative leader whose contributions helped shape the organization’s direction and success.
During her time on the board, Wood Gonzalez helped guide strategic initiatives that strengthened governance, supported long-term sustainability, and contributed to the credit union’s continued growth beyond $1 billion in assets, successful mergers, broader membership eligibility, and the organization’s 2025 rebrand from CFCU Community Credit Union to Beginnings Credit Union.
She also provided leadership through executive mentoring, operational reviews, and the development of a comprehensive compensation philosophy, helping foster a culture of accountability and forward-thinking leadership.

As a testament to her ongoing commitment, Wood Gonzalez will continue to serve Beginnings Credit Union as a member of its Education Committee.
