Better Than a BOGO: Redstone FCU Surprises Shoppers by Paying for $7K in Groceries

ATHENS, Ala.–Employees of Redstone FCU surprised grocery shoppers here by paying for approximately $7,000 in bills.

The free groceries were part of Redstone FCU’s “Acts of Brightness” initiative, which offered “families some unexpected financial relief at the checkout line and creating plenty of emotional reactions along the way,” the credit union said.

According to the $8.6-billion Redstone FCU, the effort is part of its ongoing 75th anniversary celebration, which has taken the Acts of Brightness Crew into communities across North Alabama and Tennessee to “turn everyday expenses into moments of kindness.”

So far, the initiative has helped more than 400 families and provided more than $80,000 in direct community support, including groceries, gas, utility bills and back-to-school expenses, the credit union said.
