ONTARIO, Calif. — The RMJ Foundation has launched a redesigned version of its Bite of Reality App, updating the technology used by credit unions to teach students money-management skills through simulated real-world financial decisions.
The redesigned app features updated visuals, simplified navigation and usability improvements intended to make the financial education program more intuitive and engaging for students, according to the RMJ Foundation.

The upgrade was implemented across the entire Bite of Reality platform, including all 23 customized versions currently used by participating credit unions nationwide.
Visa provided financial support for the redesign, the foundation said.
“Today’s students expect digital experiences that are intuitive, engaging, and relevant,” RMJ Foundation Executive Director Tena Lozano said in a statement. “This redesigned app strengthens our ability to deliver impactful financial education experiences while remaining true to the mission of Bite of Reality.”
Lozano said Visa’s support helped the foundation modernize the program and expand its ability to provide financial education to future generations.
Simulating Real-World Financial Decisions
Bite of Reality is designed to give students experience making financial decisions they could encounter as adults. Credit unions use the program during in-person financial education fairs to help participants develop budgeting and money-management skills.
The redesigned app retains the program’s existing educational framework while updating the digital experience to more closely resemble the technology students regularly use, the foundation said.
The app is available through Apple’s the Apple App Store and Google Play, but is designed exclusively for use during in-person Bite of Reality fairs hosted by credit unions.
The RMJ Foundation said the redesign is part of its broader effort to provide credit unions with financial education tools that can help make money-management lessons more relevant and accessible to young people.
