RALEIGH, N.C. — The Carolinas Credit Union League has named U.S. Rep. Tim Moore the first recipient of its Credit Union Champion Award, citing his support for legislation and policies affecting credit unions.
Moore, a North Carolina Republican who represents the state’s 14th Congressional District, accepted the award during a Sept. 16 meeting with the league’s Hike the Hill delegation, the organization said Wednesday.
“Credit unions serve nearly one in three North Carolinians, helping families and small businesses access necessary financial services,” Moore said in a statement provided by the league. He said he discussed regulatory changes and housing legislation with the delegation.
Support for CDFIs
The league credited Moore with supporting community development financial institution funding and efforts to reduce what it described as duplicative regulation. Billy Boylston, the league’s chief advocacy officer, said Moore had supported credit unions both in the North Carolina General Assembly and in Congress.
Moore served in the North Carolina House from 2003 through 2024, including a decade as speaker. He was elected to Congress in 2024 and serves on the House Financial Services and Budget committees, according to the league.
