Center Parc CU Helps High Schoolers Develop Entrepreneurial Skills

ATLANTA–Center Parc Credit Union is helping high school students develop entrepreneurial skills and turn their business ideas into actionable plans through its sponsorship of the Newton County FLEX (Foundational Leadership and Entrepreneur X-perience) program.

According to the credit union, Center Parc served as presenting sponsor of a business plan workshop held Sept. 30 at the Georgia Bio Science Training Center in Social Circle, Ga., bringing together students from Alcovy High School and local business and community leaders.

The workshop included students and their marketing instructor, Dr. Quinita Morrow, along with representatives from Newton County Schools, the Newton County Chamber of Commerce and the Newton County Industrial Development Authority.

Five Areas of Focus

Center Parc said the interactive workshop provided students with opportunities to work directly with experienced business professionals, gain practical insights and strengthen skills needed to launch and operate successful businesses.

Students explored five key areas of entrepreneurship:

  • Business Development: Turning an idea into a viable business.
  • Market Research: Understanding customers and competition.
  • Operations: Developing products and managing business operations.
  • Marketing and Sales: Creating strategies to attract customers and generate revenue.
  • Financial Management: Understanding funding, pricing, expenses and profitability.

Center Parc employees shared their expertise in business operations, marketing, sales and financial planning, working alongside other local business leaders to help students develop strategies for building sustainable businesses.

Emphasis on Mentorship

“At Center Parc, we believe financial education and mentorship are powerful tools for creating opportunity,” said Blake Westbrook, chief growth officer at Center Parc Credit Union.

“Supporting the Newton County FLEX program gives us an opportunity to share real-world knowledge, encourage young entrepreneurs, and help students build the confidence and skills they need to turn their ideas into something meaningful. We’re proud to play a role in helping shape the next generation of business leaders.”

Beyond Financial Sponsorship

Center Parc said its involvement in the FLEX program extends beyond financial support to include hands-on mentorship and connections with local professionals.

The credit union said the initiative is intended to bridge the gap between classroom instruction and real-world business experience while encouraging students to consider entrepreneurship as a potential career path.

Center Parc added that developing the next generation of business owners and community leaders can also contribute to Newton County’s long-term economic growth.
