Coastal CU Breaks Ground on New Branch

LELAND, N.C.– Coastal Credit Union has broken ground on a 3,300-square-foot branch at 1184 East Cutlar Crossing in Leland, N.C. Construction is expected to be completed by mid-2027.

The branch will feature three drive-up video tellers providing service from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., seven days a week, a unique benefit that only Coastal offers.

Coastal cited the economic development of the Wilmington area and a growing number of members living nearby as driving factors behind deciding to enter the market.

“The Wilmington market is among the fastest growing in the country, and the Leland community in particular is booming,” said Tyler Grodi, Coastal’s president & CEO. “As more of our members make this area home, establishing a local presence allows us to meet them where they are while introducing more residents and businesses to the value of a member-owned financial cooperative. This branch represents a long-term investment in this community and positions Coastal to grow alongside Leland for years to come.”

Coastal’s Board Chair Joan Nelson and Grodi were joined by Leland Mayor Brenda Bozeman and Brunswick County Commissioner Frank Williams for a groundbreaking ceremony that welcomed community and business leaders and local credit union members.
